This week we are getting to know one another, picking names in Spanish to use during class and learning about class policies as well as practicing some greetings and basic vocabulary in Spanish.
Spanish class policies – these should be read and signed by both the parent and student and then returned to Señora Hernández by Friday. There is generally no written homework for Spanish class, aside from finishing assignments from class and studying for quizzes. There will be a quiz each Friday starting next week and students can find information and materials they need on this website.
Students should be able to spell their Spanish name using the Spanish Alphabet in response to the question:

This week we are learning months of the year and seasons. Students will be starting a project called "My Birthday Month" which will require them to do a calendar page in Spanish for their birthday month. (See rubric below.) This will be due on October 5th. This week we are are taking the quiz that was meant to be on Friday on Tuesday. Students should study the classroom vocabulary, especially those that are on the vocabulary sheet they received for the classroom. We will also be reviewing colors and talking about agreement between adjectives and the nouns they describe.

This week we are finishing up any presentations that weren't done last week. We will be reviewing classroom vocabulary and classroom commands and introducing colors. The quiz this Friday will be written and will be on the classroom vocabulary.
Week of 9/4 - 9/7
This week we are continuing to work on greetings as well as classroom vocabulary. On Friday students will present another dialogue with a partner for an oral quiz grade. (See example below.) We will also be reviewing the alphabet and phonetics in Spanish. Students should be able to spell their name with the Spanish alphabet and be able to pronounce the vowels and their sounds in Spanish.

This week we are getting to know one another, picking names in Spanish to use during class and learning about class policies as well as practicing some greetings and vocabulary in Spanish. Students are expected to have a small three-ring binder with paper in it by Friday. This binder will be kept in Spanish class.
Spanish class policies – these should be read and signed by both the parent and student and then returned to Señora Hernández by Friday. There is generally not written homework for Spanish class, aside from studying for quizzes. There will be a quiz every Friday that students are expected to study for at home. Material for the quizzes and information about assignments can be found on this website.
I speak Spanish as much as possible to my students. It is normal for them to feel a little lost at first. Please encourage your child to keep listening and eventually it will get easier. If your child is ever struggling, please get in touch with me. Spanish is supposed to be fun! I allow all students the option to redo any quiz or assignment until the receive a grade they are happy with.

Spanish class policies – these should be read and signed by both the parent and student and then returned to Señora Hernández by Friday. There is generally no written homework for Spanish class, aside from finishing assignments from class and studying for quizzes. There will be a quiz each Friday starting next week and students can find information and materials they need on this website.

We will also be reviewing the alphabet and phonetics in Spanish. Students should be able to spell their name with the Spanish alphabet and be able to pronounce the vowels and their sounds in Spanish.

If your child is ever struggling, please get in touch with me. Spanish is supposed to be fun! I allow all students the option to redo any quiz or assignment until the receive a grade they are happy with.
